Action Alert: $100 Million to Support Salmon Hatcheries – Sign Today

Salmon are an essential part of California’s natural heritage and – with healthy runs – support 23,000 jobs and $1.4 billion in economic activity. That natural heritage and our fishing economy are fighting for survival.

These bonds must include adequate hatchery funding – we are seeking at least $100 million – that support benefits for economically critical fall-run Chinook salmon including:

  • Increased fall-run Chinook salmon hatchery production;
  • Improved juvenile release practices;
  • Upgraded and expanded hatcheries;
  • Implementation of genetic parental-based tagging to monitor success; and
  • Endangered Species Act listed winter- and spring-run Chinook salmon.

We need the voices of all fishing industry businesses, trade associations and organizations, port associations, commercial and recreational fishing owner/operators, tackle manufacturers and retailers, fish brokers, fishing guide business owners, and all GSSA members and the general public.
